how it started

Taquiza is an independent Mexican restaurant in Peckham Rye and the sister venue to The Carpet Shop, both owned by the team behind Corsica Studios. Known for some of the best Mexican food in London, Taquiza had everything needed to build a loyal following: incredible food, a genuinely welcoming team, and a strong community ethos. The challenge wasn't the product, it was making sure people knew it existed.

Tucked slightly off the beaten track, Taquiza relies heavily on social media to introduce new customers to the venue. When we began working together in December 2025, Instagram had just over 5,000 followers, there was no TikTok presence, posting was inconsistent, and the pages weren't showcasing the venue's personality or full offering. Highlights, branding and profile optimisation were also underdeveloped, making it difficult for visitors to understand everything Taquiza had to offer at a glance.

THE CHALLENGE

Our goal wasn't simply to grow followers or chase viral trends. Taquiza's identity is built around authenticity, community and great hospitality, so any strategy had to reflect those values while helping the business reach entirely new audiences.

We first optimised the foundations of the account, refining the profile, highlights, branding and overall user experience before introducing a long-term content strategy built around three core pillars:

QUALIFYING CONTENT

Showcasing the food, venue and customer experience

EDUCATIONAL CONTENT

Value-led videos designed to reach cold audiences and establish authority

PERSONABLE CONTENT

Introducing the team, culture and atmosphere that make Taquiza unique

THE ROLLOUT

Rather than immediately focusing on viral content, we spent the first few weeks building a strong library of qualifying content. The aim was simple: if someone discovered Taquiza through a viral video, the profile needed to instantly convince them to follow, visit and eventually book a table.

Once that foundation was in place, we gradually introduced more educational, top-of-funnel content. This proved to be the biggest driver of growth. Because the team fully embraced the strategy and were willing to appear on camera, we were able to create educational content that felt both informative and authentic.

The results spoke for themselves. A video explaining how to cut the perfect lime generated over 5 million views across platforms. Videos on topics such as how to make pickled onions and gluten-free batter also performed exceptionally well, with one gluten-free batter video alone (featured above) growing the Instagram account from around 11,000 to over 20,000 followers in less than two weeks.

Most importantly, these weren't isolated viral moments. They became part of a repeatable content strategy built around providing genuine value while remaining true to the brand.

WHERE WE ARE NOW

Growth is only meaningful if it translates into business results.

Alongside content creation, we introduced a more measurable marketing setup, including a Beacons link-in-bio system that allowed us to track user behaviour beyond likes and follows. Monthly reporting has consistently shown increases in profile visits, website clicks and booking enquiries, while backend booking data and conversations with the team have shown more fully booked services, increased walk-in traffic and stronger customer awareness.

The increased visibility has also opened doors beyond customer acquisition, leading to collaboration opportunities with hospitality brands, creators and events across London, including invitations to pop-up events such as Boxpark.

Today, Taquiza's social media doesn't just document the business, it actively drives discovery, strengthens the brand and helps keep tables full.

“Amy has been an incredible asset to the Taquiza team. She’s taken us from around 5k followers to 29.5k in just a few months, which has made a huge impact on our growth this year as business and a brand.

She’s hardworking, creative, and so easy to work with. Her ideas are fresh, fun, and consistently effective, she really knows how to create content that connects!

We’re so grateful for everything she’s done so far and excited to see what she brings next. Strong social media makes a real difference, and Amy has absolutely proven that.

Thank you, Amy!”
